Don't get me wrong! I like red color a lot. I even owned a MIU MIU red sandal a few years ago. For me, red is most glaring when it stands out from other colors. Not when there is a Sea of Red. That would hurt people's eyes. That would raise people's anxiety. That will somehow smell bloody in someway.
Red October, a classic movie way back. Thrills, actions and quality all over that piece of art.
Yet, there's a lame movie now airing in front of Taiwan's presidential building. Red color is the main theme. Red revolution is probably the backbone of the whole event. It just started in September so I called it Red September.
How lame is it? Sure people have every right to demonstrate to any gov they don't like or they don't approve. Yet demonstration is a way of expressiing an opinion from a certain group of people., not a way to FORCE nation's leader to step down. That would only happen in a autarchic country where people have no other ways but to fight against their leader. Is that the case in Taiwan? Let's see... Medias no matter electronic or printed can literally make up news whatever they want and don't have to appologize after being disclosed of what they did. Politicians can say whatever lies they want to say without bearing any responsibility. The president elected by majority of people can be treated like a dog just for the sake of being opposite political party. So tell me Taiwan is an autarchic country.
Now actors and actresses in Red September want to have they way to force the president to step down because of unproven accusation. Though I don't particularly like what President Chen is doing in his terms of presidency, unless he is proven guilty of any law-breaking, he's only got less than 18 months to stay at the position then people can vote whatever they like in the next election. Isn't it the meanning of democracy?
The leading actor in Red September was once a hero against Red Goverment but just sort of fading away since there are more young bloods stepping up. He betrays the saviors of his life who stayed in jail for 7 years for that cause just because they didn't agree with what he is doing. The producer of the movie? yeah, you got it right! KMT, the richest and fascistest party in the world that's not named Communist Party. Since 2000 when KMT lose their control of the nation to DPP, they haven't stopped pulling gov's legs just wanted to fool people that new gov is no good. Of course new gov is shaky since they didn't have any governing experience and the whole political system and bad habits just can't be changed overnight and sure, there are many dumpsters in new gov. No doubt about it. Well, back to basic. People voted for it, so take it or leave it. If you don't like it, too bad. Try harder to win next election. Just not try harder to hinder the progress of the country to prove others bad.
The scrip of the movie has been edited over and over and it seems getting more violent. Drift far away from original carnival like event. I respect everyone's right to express their own idea just like there will always be a market for badly produced movie. Just hope somehow the script of the lamest movie can turn into a peaceful ending and democarcy in Taiwan can keep moving forward no matter who takes over the gov in 2008.
God bless Taiwan.
